Hairy Heartburn

B texted last night to say, "Oh man, I think this little one is going to have a head full of hair because the crazy heartburn has started already!"  This made me laugh, and of course feel excited for a head full of hair...but bad that she's having heartburn and we're not even halfway there yet.  She said that all four of her kids came out with a ton of hair, and she got the same heartburn with each one of them.  (Am wondering if this is a wive's tale?)

Either way, I was one of those babies that didn't have hair for ages, so it would be awesome to have a baby with hair.  All the better for sooner being able to braid, spike, curling iron (j/k).  Can you tell that today I'm secretly hoping for a girl?  I can assure you that tomorrow I'll be hoping for a boy.  That's how it goes around these parts.  But no matter which one it is, I'm not-so-secretly hoping for a redhaired kid.  N's mom and brother have red hair, and our egg donor has blonde hair....so there's a chance that it could turn out.  Haha!   Oh the things that fill our minds while we're waiting on babies to arrive.

In the meantime, I'm still on the road to inducing lactation.  Nothing much to tell really.  I haven't started pumping yet.  Probably going to start this weekend.  (I went off the meds last weekend by accident b/c I went out of town and forgot my pills in another bag.  GAh!)

  1. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you...a baby with lots and lots of red hair! I love it! And will we know boy or girl here in a few weeks, or are you waiting to find out?

    1. No, we're not waiting to find out. The hold up has been that we wanted to fly down to be there with her for our big growth/measurement ultrasound appointment and gender reveal. So we're flying down there on July 14th! I can't wait!

  2. Aww, I'm praying for a redhaired lil angel too then! My Aunt has red hair on Dads side, cousin on Moms side and hubbys brother has red hair as did their Granny (Moms mom) and their own mother! Hubs has blonde hair though and I have dark brown hair with natural red highlights so that's quite a bit of red, LOL! Sending some redhead vibes out into the universe for you my friend! Has B felt little one move yet, Greyson started moving up a storm for my SIL yesterday!

    1. She hasn't said much about moving around, but she did mention that he/she was moving around so much around the other day during her doctor's appt that he was having a hard time counting the heartbeat. Hah! We've got a livewire on our hands.

  3. We have redheads on both sides so we made sure to pick a strawberry blonde donor. Trying not to get our hopes to hi, but so far, totally stawberry :) Fingers crossed it doesn't fall out and change colors on us!
You are going to LOVE the 20 wk appt. So happy you guys are getting to go with her.

    2. Ha! I know what you mean. Don't worry I won't judge your spelling....at least not this time. ;-)

Seriously though, our egg donor has blonde hair and so does my husband. I know this kid is coming out looking like a little German for sure, but I can still hold out hope for strawberry. We really looked hard for a redhaired donor, but just couldn't find one that worked for us...especially since we had to choose a new (second) donor after our first one canceled.

      Anyways....can't wait for the 20 week u/s!!
